Global Pan-African Conference: The Africa We Want – Conference Call for Papers

The first ‘Global Pan-African Conference: The Africa We Want,’ organised by Mboka Festival of Arts Culture and Sport, will take place from Monday, 25 May, to Thursday 28 May 2020 in The Gambia. The object of the conference is not only to contribute to the Pan-African driven Agenda as relates to the ‘Africa We Want’ document but also to focus on how The Gambia can play its part locally, regionally and continentally. The conference also seeks to explore how The Gambian people can benefit from African integration with a focus on issues of governance, women, arts and culture, youth and diaspora.

There will be a minimum of four sessions on each theme:
• ASPIRATION 2: An integrated content, political united, based on the ideals of Pan- Africanism and the vision of Africa’s Renaissance
• ASPIRATION 3: An Africa of good governance, democracy, respect for human rights, justice and the rule of law
• ASPIRATION 5: An Africa with a strong cultural identity, common heritage, values and ethics
• ASPIRATION 6: An Africa whose development is people-driven, relying on the potential of African people, especially its women and youth, and caring for children

To submit individual papers for the conference please send an abstract of 250 words with a short biographical statement (max 150 words). Multi-media (audio and video inclusion) pieces are also welcome – these should be submitted as an online link together with a short biographical statement (max 150 words). To submit a panel for the conference, send the same as for individual panels with a brief description of the theme of the panel (maximum four speakers plus chair).

Deadline 1 October 2019. Notification of acceptance will be by 31 December 2019. Please send your abstracts and details to mbokafestival@gmail.com with the subject Line: CFP – Theme (e.g. Women)
